Green SONA

The State of Nature Assessment, popularly known as the Green SONA is an annual gathering of members of Green Convergence and other environmentalists where an evaluation of the state of the environment based on research and feedback from members and communities is given.

It started in 2006 by what then was a loose coalition of civil society groups and was continued under the auspices of GC when it was incorporated in 2011.  The SONA had been held in the Environmental Studies Institute of Miriam College but since 2016, was held in different part of the 3 island groupings of the Philippines.

Bringing it to different parts of the country allows GC to spread the ecological paradigm and to provide a platform for discussion of local / regional issues contextualized in the current national situation.
